There are many unique characters in Caribbean mythology. Caribbean Folklore is wonderful and distinctive and has been around for as long as the islands themselves.

Do you recognize any of these? Thinking about a few of them kept me up at nights and telling stories of a few others kept my siblings up at night. I have always loved folklore, searching every elder’s face for evidence of a Soucouyant possession, wishing to see Papa Bois, wishing not to see Douens or the Phantom emerging from behind a ‘lamp-poll’.

And the call of the drums, growing up you would hear drums all the time, random incantations that would stop you in your tracks, today I can’t remember the last time i heard a random drum call.
